Will Lemon just returned from Art Basil where he worked on the Paul Rowland show. His Marc Jacobs’ ad (shot by Terry Richardson) just ran in HARPER’S BAZAAR. His musical project, Moon & Moon’s, album release show is coming up on Dec. 14th at Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn (http://www.glasslands.com/). Be sure to check it out if you’re in town!

Jess Holzworth is busy working on her solo art show which will debut in NYC in Feb. at the Sunday Gallery, and she’s working on a swimsuit design for Volcom. Jess recently directed the new music video for Beck’s single “Gamma Ray” off his release, Modern Guilt….Check out this psychedelic thrill ride, starring Oscar-nominated actress, Chloe Sevigny (and our own Will Lemon!), and featuring animated versions of Jess’ collage art here: http://giantartists.com/director_holzworth_reel.php.

Seth Smoot worked with Oscar-winning director Ed Zwick and Paramount Pictures on a recent photo session for Zwick’s upcoming feature, “Defiance,” the true WWII story of three Jewish brothers who hid in the Belorussian forests and built a community of partisan fighters, saving over 1200 Jews by war's end.

Aaron Ruell directed a new TV campaign for Nintendo Wii, and shot an upcoming print campaign for Clear, with Secret Weapon. Aaron was also featured in SHOTS magazine – read it here: http://www.shots.net/news_detail.asp?id=4477.

Lauren Dukoff photographed Scott Weiland and She & Him for ROLLING STONE and Gerard Way for COMPLEX. She also shot the look book for the debut fashion collection by JMM.

Justin Krietemeyer of National Forest was a design judge for the Seattle Show (http://work.seattleshow.org/). The Burton campaign and boards have launched! National Forest developed, branded & designed the 2008/09 Burton Women's campaign, called “Live What You Love,” top to bottom. They also have some bindings coming out that we are stoked on. They’re currently working with DC Shoes & the Bonnaroo Music Festival….stay tuned!

Michael Schmelling shot for DAZED & CONFUSED, SPIN, BLENDER & Columbia/Startime (the band Wild Light). If you were lucky enough to be in NYC in November, you may have attended the show & book party for Michael’s book, The Week of No Computer, at The Liquor Store. He also debuted a short film at J+L Books Variety Show at Aperture in New York, and his work is in two Tiny Vices exhibits, one in Miami and one L.A.

David Calderley just completed Design and Art Directional work in collaboration with Yard for the New Spring/Summer 09 John Varvatos Converse Campaign. He also designed the New All American Rejects CD package for Interscope Records, and is currently working for Dentsu on Brand development and print for the new US flagship office Dentsu America in NY (inclusive of all print materials and Interior large scale mural work). David is designing logo/brand materials for photographer Peter Yang including book, printed collateral, and website. David continues to work with Station Films on additional design, brand and website development. And if that’s not enough, he’s creating illustrations for singer/songwriter, Chris Grace’s new CD….and now I’m going to take a nap!

Uber-stylist & fashion icon Shirley Kurata worked with Furlined and the director Yael Staav on a commercial shoot for Wrigley’s, styled the cover for an upcoming issue of DOMINO, and worked with photographer Patrick Fraser on a shoot with BLACKBOOK. Shirley is also styling actress & musician Zooey Deschanel for the press junket & premieres for her new movie “Yes Man.”

Jeremy & Claire Weiss are finally taking time to clean up their house and restructure their portfolio after a year of non-stop back-to-back shoots!

Blake Marquis continues to work on design & illustration for Microsoft through our good friends at JWT in New York. He’s also busy re-designing the Giant Artists website, which is scheduled to debut after the holidays….Be sure to check back in January!

We're happy to announce we now represent the super talented photographer & cinematographer, David Black - www.giantartists.com/photography_black.php. Print Magazine named him as a Top New Visual Artist under 30, last year he was included in The Art Directors Club of New York "Young Gun's 5" show and book, and this year he was nominated for best individual portrait by The New York Photo Festival. His work has appeared in American Photography 22 and he is a frequent contributor to T: The New York Times Style Magazine, Interview, and Stop Smiling. His Cinematography can be seen for music videos for The Virgins, Hearts Revolution to the Sundance Channel, MTV and Award Winning Shorts. David is also a visiting instructor at Pratt Institute as well as The San Francisco Art Institute. He lives in New York City. David most recently shot the Daft Punk and Oliver Stone covers of STOP SMILING, as well as portraits of Richard Hell, The Silver Jews, and Zooey Deschanel. He shot I.U.D. and Gang Gang Dance for USELESS, The Virgins for INTERVIEW, Hannah Bailey for TEEN VOGUE, Philip Crangi for DOMINO, Italo Zucchelli for ESQUIRE, and a fashion story for LATINA MAGAZINE. The Chase Bank ads he shot for McGarry Bown and Ryan Partnership are out! David DP'd videos for The Virgins and Hearts Revolution, and the upcoming film "Floyd and the Straight Edge," written & directed by Susanna Locascio.

William Lemon III is now represented by Giant Artists, and we couldn't be more excited! Will invented a very precise, beautiful form of body painting called Skin Printing and can paint anything on the body - the tiniest (or biggest) logo, a poem, pattern, tattoo, etc. He's most recently worked with artists like Marc Jacobs and Terry Richardson for HARPER'S BAZAAR, M.A.C. cosmetics, Dash Snow, Animal Collective for SPIN, Devendra Banhart, Kai Regan, and Richard Burbridge. Will did the skin printing for and co-starred with Chloe Sevigny in Beck's new video for "Gamma Ray," which premiered on MySpace.com on Oct. 28th to over 90,000 views! He's also a multi-talented fine artist. His artwork, which includes tapestries, wood blocks, installations, and short films, can be found on his website at www.williamlemon.com.

Jeremy & Claire Weiss shot the print ads for XBox for McCann Erickson featuring the one and only Burt Reynolds! They wrapped up another campaign for Converse and more work for Rockstar Games. They also photographed Girl Talk for ROLLING STONE, shot Freddy Rodriguez for TIME OUT CHICAGO, Sam Querry for TENNIS MAGAZINE, and documented Spiritualized for Myspace Music. Their photos can be seen on newsstands now in L'UOMO VOGUE, VMAN, and ANTENNA.

Mark Hunter (the Cobrasnake) worked with McKinney on a campaign for Nike, which can already been seen in-stores. He also shot another campaign with Deutsch for PlayStation SingStar Country, and worked with Wenner Media on an advertorial for BlackBerry "Hot Hollywood" in US WEEKLY. He's been to Japan, NYC, LA, China and documented Paris Fashion Week this month! He also walked on the moon and may or may not have solved the economic crisis.

Aaron Ruell directed an XBox spot starring Burt Reynolds! for McCann Erickson this month. He participated in a group exhibit in the "Young LA" show at Project M Gallery and is having a show in Buenos Aires at ThisIsNotAGallery.

F. Scott Schafer shot a holiday ad campaign for Palm Centro with Creature LLC. It'll be out soon!

Stylist Shirley Kurata worked with Aaron Ruell on the XBox shoot for McCann, and worked with director Dave Laden on a spot for Epson through Uber Content.

Art Director/Designer David Calderley has stayed very busy this month! He designed the brand identity for BigFoot, a NY media company, designed the Courtney Jaye EP packaging, and an ad campaign and couture + collection look books for Carmen Marc Valvo Spring 09. David continues to work with Bespoken Clothiers on their website and is currently developing the Kelly Van Gogh Beauty Website. David's working with Station Films, a new production company, on their website and brand identity. He's also designing the album packaging & marketing materials for the All American Rejects (Interscope), artist Chris Grace (Blacklight Rumble Album), and is working with Dentsu case logo development and brand tools for N. America.

Blake E. Marquis has been working non-stop with JWT on an ongoing campaign for Microsoft! He also designed prints for Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter.

Michael Schmelling worked with T: THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE, shot Antony (of Antony & the Johnsons) for the cover of THE WIRE, and camera on the T-Pain video "Karaoke," directed by Bankhead in Miami.

Lauren Dukoff documented the bands Little Joy and Megapuss on their west coast tour, and is finishing her book, Family, for Chronicle Books (available Spring 09). She shot the look book for designers JMM, worked with the American Red Cross on a campaign for the American Youth Council, and with the good folks at BBDO Worldwide on a campaign for Autism Speaks. Lauren also shot a story for FERRARI MAGAZINE in San Francisco, and has a Soundcheck photo in the current issue of SPIN. She photographed the band Spinnerette for SPIN and She & Him for ROLLING STONE.

Laura Crosta continues working on the Hotel Café Tour documentary film, which she's directing. She also finished a new video for The Alternate Routes for Vanguard Records (out now!), and finished a campaign for Yahoo! through our friends at Ogilvy & Mather.

Blossom Berkofsky After spending some time in Los Angeles, Blossom is back in New York and continues to work on her personal projects. She shot musician Rebecca Pidgeon for her upcoming album release and the photographs she took for the Bespoken Clothiers lookbook can now be viewed here www.bespokenclothiers.com.

Seth Smoot spent the month shooting stills on an upcoming short film, based on the Murikami story "Into Thin Air." You can see his image as the opener for the "Best Of" Restaurants section in the current ESQUIRE.

In gallery news...Blake Marquis and Jeremy & Claire Weiss' work was shown at the PARK LIFE exhibit at SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS GALLERY during the month of October. Jeremy & Claire Weiss, Aaron Ruell, and Mark Hunter (the Cobrasnake) all showed work at YOUNG LA, showcasing the best in emerging LA talent.

Jeremy & Claire Weiss wrapped a global campaign for Nokia for Wieden + Kennedy (shot in South Africa & L.A.), and two back to back campaigns for Converse.

Mark Hunter (the Cobrasnake) worked with The Richards Group on a campaign for Vassarette. The campaign he shot for Harrah's Casinos (BBDO West) is in full swing now, as is the campaign he shot for Yahoo! (Ogilvy & Mather). He was busy shooting shows and events during fashion week in NYC and will be in Paris during fashion week this month, as well.

Michael Schmelling worked with GQ, DETAILS (during the New Orleans evacuation), NEW YORK MAGAZINE, T. THE NEW YORK TIMES STYLE MAGAZINE, TEEN VOGUE, THE JOURNAL, FAST COMPANY, BLENDER, and SPIN, and shot album and promotional photographs and album design for "The End of The World" (Flameshovel/Pretty Activity Records). Michael's book, The Plan, is set for release by J+L Books in Spring, 2009. "The Week of No Computer," Michael's new book, is available through TV Books - www.tvbookshop.com.

Blossom Berkofsky photographed Lenka for SPIN, and shot the fashion line Willows for AUSTRALIAN VOGUE. She also worked with the designers WREN and SHIPLEY & HALMOS during fashion week. Blossom continues to work with BESPOKEN CLOTHIERS, on their lines for Spring/Summer '09.

Blake E. Marquis did an illustration and design for Cheech & Chong's LA show. He also worked with the folks at JWT in NYC on an upcoming campaign, and his work can be seen in Over & Over, a book about pattern design. Blake has a group show at Subliminal Projects in Los Angeles, opening Oct. 4th.

Seth Smoot photographed the band Longwave (Original Signal Recordings) for their new release. He also worked with ESQUIRE on their "Best of" Restaurants issue, and ELLE DÉCOR UK. He worked with NYC & Co. photographing the band Oasis for an upcoming documentary from filmmakers and music-video directors the Malloys. Oasis' new album Dig Out Your Soul doesn't hit stores 'til October 7, but the British rock band agreed to give NYC locals and visitors a preview of three unreleased tracks via the instruments and voices of nearly 20 MUNY (Music Under New York) performers - who would eventually filter out to MTA subway platforms and streets throughout the City to perform the never-before-heard songs for passers-by. Autumn de Wilde shot the '09 campaign for Oliver Peoples featuring Zooey Deschanel & Matt Costa.

Lauren Dukoff worked with the American Red Cross on a campaign with the Teen Choice Awards winners & nominees, including Fergie, Josh Duhamel, and Lil Mama. She also worked with ELLE, FAST COMPANY, FILTER, and has six shoots in NYLON'S September issue and Mila Kunis in NYLON GUYS this month. Lauren documented Beck and Devendra Banhart in Reno and at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco. She was nominated for PRINT MAGAZINE's annual New Vision Artists competition. Congrats!

F. Scott Schafer just returned from shooting British comedian Harry Hill and the group Hope in London. His second year lecturing at the PDN photo expo is coming up at the end of October.

National Forest will be wrapping a successful solo exhibit, Somehow, We All Seem Connected, at Subliminal Projects in L.A. on Sept. 19th. If you live in LA, be sure to check it out! Steve released a book, Our Mountain, published by Six Pack France & Element. Check out a short film about the exhibit here - www.subliminalprojects.com. National Forest continues to work with DDB on an upcoming project, and is working with the lovely folks at Noise Pop on visual materials for 2009. National Forest is now available for motion graphics & animation work as well!

Stylist Shirley Kurata worked on campaigns for Nokia, Oliver Peoples, Vassarette, and Microsoft, and with artists like Zooey Deschanel, Jenny Lewis, Elvis Costello, and The Bird & The Bee, among others. She also styled the upcoming cover of FILTER magazine, and worked as a creative director with designers Rodarte during fashion week.

Laura Crosta worked once again with Yahoo! and our friends at Ogilvy & Mather. She photographed Daphne Willis and The Alternate Routes for Vanguard Records, and directed a music video for The Alt Routes. Her music video for Brendan James' single "Green" can be viewed here - www.youtube.com.

Steven Harrington and Justin Krietemeyer of National Forest are having their first solo show in Los Angeles in four years at Subliminal Projects Gallery. Somehow, We All Seem Connected will feature handmade multiples and sculptures exploring human connectivity and humorous points of similarity, through their perception of reality, experience, and imagination. The show will run from August 23 to September 19. Please join us for the artists' reception on Saturday, August 23 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Autumn de Wilde photographed Joshua Radin for Sony BMG, Christina Courtin for Nonesuch, and Polly Scattergood for Mute in London. She directed videos for The Raconteurs, Death Cab for Cutie's single "Cath," and Greg Laswell. She also worked with VOGUE, THE JOURNAL, and L'UOMO VOGUE.

Seth Smoot shot an ad campaign for On-Q for The Ingredient and for Olade with Firefly Media.

Aaron Ruell shot a print campaign for the NFL through BBDO.

Michael Schmelling photographed the band Derek Trucks for Sony BMG and Lambchop for Merge. He also worked with RADAR on a feature about gas mining in the Poconos, John Ashcroft for DETAILS, Dubstep for NY MAGAZINE, Brightblack Morning Light for BLENDER, and shot the cover of AMERICAN CRAFT. He spent most of the month in Atlanta finishing up the Outkast book (due Spring 2009, Continuum Publishing). He shot Young Jeezy for BLENDER and spent a week in LA shooting T-Pain and Lil Wayne for Nappy Boy Entertainment and Bank Head LLC. F. Scott Schafer shot the galleries for William Shatner's new talk show "Raw Nerve" on A&E, "Do Not Disturb" for Fox, and "Judge Alex" for Twentieth Television. He also worked with A&E on their reality series "The Exterminators" ad campaign, "Eureka" for the Sci-Fi Channel, and "Stargate Atlantis," also for Sci-Fi.

National Forest Design is working with the folks at DDB San Francisco on a project for Pine-Sol.

Stylist Shirley Kurata worked on campaigns for PlayStation, Yahoo, Comcast, Mastercard, and Nokia. She also worked with artists Beck and Joshua Radin.

David Calderley is designing the album cover for Chris Cornell's upcoming release (Interscope Records), and did the layout for Beck's new release "Modern Guilt," as well as a website for Bespoken Clothiers, a youth brand for Turnbull & Asser. He's also working on an upcoming Madonna release on Warner Bros. Records. David art directed Mercury Rev's new album "Snowflake Midnight," and Courtney Jaye's release "Queen of Sabotage." He did the brand system for both print & web for Station Film, a new production company for commercial directors. He's working with a NY swimwear company rebrand for print and the Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 08 invitations.

Lauren Dukoff worked with the EVENING STANDARD (UK), READY MADE, COSMO GIRL, C MAGAZINE, NYLON, and THE GUARDIAN. She also shot Eleni Mandell, Dana Goodyear, and The Spill Canvass for WB Records.

Blossom Berkofsky worked with BLENDER, TEEN VOGUE, and VICE.

Friend of Giant Artists, Philip Andelman, documented Jay-Z at Glastonbury for Island Def Jam.

Eden Batki took a road trip to the desert of Jordan for BUDGET TRAVEL, including a cruise on Lake Nasser in Egypt. Her travels also took her to Beirut and Cairo. Her photo shoot for DIVA is out now!

Mark Hunter (the Cobrasnake) and Seth Smoot worked with the good folks at BBDO West on an upcoming campaign for Harrah's Casino. Seth has also been working with director Jared Hess on his upcoming film "Gentlemen Broncos."

Steven Harrington and Justin Krietemeyer of National Forest Design will be embarking on a traveling solo European art-show at the end of this month called Our Mountain sponsored by Sixpack and Element Skateboards. The show will open in Paris at the Lazy Dog Gallery (www.thelazydog.fr/) on June 5th and will travel through Paris, Milan, Berlin and Barcelona... Along with the show, Steven will be releasing his first solo book consisting of 160 pages: www.highsnobiety.com. In addition to the book, Steven will also be releasing some custom shaped and designed limited-edition-element-series-skateboard-decks, a paper toy, 10 new prints and some other surprises. FEBRUARY/MARCH 2008

Blake E. Marquis along with Arnold Worldwide won an Andy Award for his One Show Annual design work. Congratulations!! Blake's original typeface Penny and Circus Maximus have been released by You Work For Them. He finished interactive work for a TruTV Facebook and MySpace application, completed posters for Brian Posehn and Eddie Izzard for MySpace, and is working on Truth Remix branding and packaging (artists include Diplo and Z*Trip). Blake is also working on artists select t-shirts for Threadless and a portrait of Bobby Lee from MADtv. His GreeNYC "infinity apple" logo is making some news these days, too. He'll be moving to Philly in May.

Autumn de Wilde directed the music video for The Raconteurs first single "Salute Your Solution" from their new album "Consolers of the Lonely." She shot Death Cab for Cutie (Atlantic Records) for their upcoming release, and Mason Jennings and G Love for Brushfire. She shot Rodarte for TEEN VOGUE and WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY. She worked with Eric Hutchinson for Warner Bros. Records, and shot The Raconteurs in Nashville for their new album. She traveled to Dublin, Ireland to shoot Lost Highway artist Fionn Regan for his new release. Her photographs of Elliott Smith were on exhibit in Austin, TX, during SXSW at Four Walls Fine Art (presented by Noise Pop).

Michael Schmelling worked with SPIN on a feature about the music biz, and photographed My Morning Jacket for BLENDER. He also directed a viral music video for the band Sunny Day Sets Fire. Michael has a solo show at the Bucketrider Gallery in Chicago April 18 - May 18. Be sure to check it out if you're in the Chicago area!

National Forest just finished the 2009 Burton Snowboards Women's advertising campaign. They also just received some of the 2009 boards that they worked on last year and they are beautiful. New NF Burton Bindings coming out in 2010 as well. Justin did the cover for FLAUNT Magazine which had a small feature on National Forest. NF also did a small multimedia installation for the release party in Los Angeles. Habitat skateboards has a new series of Steve Harrington signature series boards coming out next year. Justin and Steve have also been working on a touring art show named "Our Mountain" that will debut at Lazy Dog Gallery in Paris, France in June. The show will then tour Europe making stops in England, Spain, Italy, and Germany. Steve has a 200 page book and Element skateboard series coming out in conjunction with the show.

Jeremy & Claire Weiss photographed Danger Mouse (Waxploitation), and shot The Donnas for NYLON. They also shot Pennywise and Stephen Malkmus for MySpace. Their photos of Gnarls Barkley can be seen this month on the cover of PASTE, and in BILLBOARD, BLENDER, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, and THE GUARDIAN, to name a few. They have photographs hanging at ISM Gallery in Long Beach, have an interview in French Magazine BLACKPOOL, and are featured in the art book Apenest.

Blossom Berkofsky worked with SPIN documenting the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX.

The Cobrasnake worked with Converse and also shot a fashion story for NYLON and a feature for SPIN. He shot the band Paramore in Birmingham, AL, for BLENDER. He continues to travel around the world, seemingly weekly.

Eden Batki shot a portrait of Megan Whitmarsh for BUST.

Seth Smoot worked with Environment Furniture on a campaign for their newest store in NYC, and shot the cover & publicity photos for Mates of State (Barsuk Records). Seth is shooting stills for two months on director Jared Hess' upcoming film "Gentlemen Broncos" (Fox Searchlight).

Stylist Shirley Kurata worked with Ryan McGinley on a job for Wieden + Kennedy, and on commercials for Comcast, Domino's Pizza, and Microsoft with director Aaron Ruell (Biscuit). She also styled Mason Jennings and Eric Hutchinson.

F. Scott Schafer shot The Offspring for Columbia Records in Australia, and ad campaigns for Aflac, Bacardi, and US Bank. He can currently be found heli-snowboarding in Alaska...

Autumn de Wilde photographed Jenny Lewis, Low vs. Diamond for Sony BMG, She & Him (M. Ward & Zooey Deschanel) for Merge Records, The Annuals for Canvassback Records/Sony BMG, The Switches for Interscope, Colin Malloy for KRS, and documented the designers Rodarte during New York Fashion Week for Fall 08. She also worked with NYLON, HARPER'S BAZAAR AUSTRALIA, HUMO (Belgium), and ELLE. Autumn's exhibit of photographs from her book, Elliott Smith, will travel from Powell's Books in Portland to Queen's Nails Annex in San Francisco, opening Feb. 28 (presented by Noise Pop and Chronicle Books).

Michael Schmelling shot the new look book for Isaac Mizrahi's men's couture collection and photographed Destroyer for Merge Records. He worked with THE WIRE, 'SUP, NEW YORK MAGAZINE and is also working camera for the upcoming MTV show "How's Your News." Check out his current feature in ESQUIRE.

Art Director David Calderley designed the invitations and catalogue for Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 08 Collection, Bryant Park NYC. He had a double page spread for the NY TIMES Fashion Supplement Magazine, and designed the Rogues Harbor Studios Website (www.therhs.com). David also designed the new Counting Crows album for Geffen Records, and the album for the Salvador Santana Band. He is currently developing graphics for the new HBO movie "We Are Together," and working on the Dianelia Cotton album. Recent press includes a feature in IDN March issue v15 (www.idnworld.com) and a double page feature in Computer Arts March Issue (www.computerarts.co.uk).

F. Scott Schafer shot Flight of the Conchords (awesome) for MAXIM, 16 pro wrestlers for an upcoming fold-out cover for WWE MAGAZINE, Flava Flav for his new sitcom "Under One Roof" for My Network TV, and advertising campaigns for Aflac and Bacardi Holiday. He'll be traveling to Australia in February to shoot The Offspring for Columbia Records.

Jeremy & Claire Weiss shot all the new publicity and promotional photos for Gnarls Barkley's new album, and shot Ferras for Capitol Music Group. They also worked with FAST COMPANY and READYMADE. Holla!

Blake E. Marquis released the typeface Dubby with foundry You Work For Them (www.youworkforthem.com). He designed the MySpace.com poster for Joe Rogan and Janeane Garofalo. Graphis gave his GreeNYC logo design the Gold Award. He is also working with Creature agency in Seattle on an ad campaign for Pacifico.

Laura Crosta photographed and directed the EPK's for Lucas Reynolds for Vanguard and The Duhks for Sugar Hill Records in Nashville.
